Papa Gino's first opened in East Boston in 1961 when it was known as Piece O' Pizza. The restaurant became known as the best pizza and most authentic pizza in Boston, especially given its roots in Italy. Owner Michael Valerio and his family emigrated from Italy to Boston and brought with them their delicious authentic family recipes. Papa Gino's makes their dough from locally sourced wheat, salt, and oil, and their sauce is made using vine-ripened tomatoes. They have a signature cheese blend made with three premium cheeses to bring out a delicious authentic pizza.
